Capturing high-speed dynamics with fast light pulsing
Fastec Imaging with Gardasoft Vision
Case study: Ultra-fast Image Capture
Businesses in many industries use high-speed digital cameras to analyze events that happen far too quickly for the human eye to observe. California-based Fastec Imaging developed its remarkable HS range of digital cameras to serve such customers around the world. When a customer wanted to record high-speed video for a microfluidics application, Fastec needed to develop a compact, reliable demonstration system, but there were obstacles.

Fastec needed a compact, tabletop demonstration system with few bulky components, that would still consistently produce good results. For simplicity, a manual eyedropper was used to generate water droplets. A dedicated illumination system was required to deal with various fast-frame challenges, to prevent motion blur and ensure that enough light entered the camera to deliver high-quality images.
The system’s light output was controlled using a Gardasoft FP220 two-channel lighting controller, which features unique output drive technology that can create super fast, accurate light pulses and is designed for high-speed, high-power pulsing with low power dissipation. It can operate at trigger rates up to 10 kHz, with a maximum overdrive pulse output of 20A.
The demonstration system is simple to use and as well as providing hugely impressive images, it provides Fastec Imaging with a long list of other benefits.
