PP SafePowerTM mode for RT, TR-HT and RC controllers

PP SafePowerTM mode for RT, TR-HT and RC controllers

The latest firmware (v050) for the RTxxx, TR-HTxxx, RCxxx lighting controllers includes a new ‘PP Mode’ feature. All of these controllers benefit from SafePowerTM which adjusts the supply voltage to make most efficient use of the power. This brings a number of advantages:

  • Heat dissipation in the controller is very low
  • The load voltage can be higher than the supply voltage
  • The choice of supply voltage is more flexible
  • High continuous currents can be output without heatsinking the controller

However the introduction of the PP Mode further improves the performance of SafePower in certain circumstances:

  • For some applications where switch mode is being used for long (maybe 1 second) pulses at high current, there can be a drop in current near the beginning of the pulse. This can be prevented using PP Mode.
  • Using PP Mode SafePower to set initial SafePower conditions, any time delay in the controller adjusting to new configurations can be prevented or reduced.
  • When pulses less than 200µs are configured the controller puts a restriction on the maximum pulse frequency by adjusting the retrigger delay. PP Mode allows this restriction to be avoided.

Gardasoft produces revision documents for most of the product range. This lists the firmware and hardware versions and any changes that have been made. This can be sent to customers on request, so if you would like to make use of the PP Mode, request the release notes using the ‘Ask the expert’ tab at the bottom of this page. Gardasoft application experts will contact you about your requirements to make sure that you have all the information and instructions needed to use PP Mode.
