JOB DESCRIPTION

Key Tasks

Inspection/Testing:

  • Preparing First Article Inspection Reports.
  • Incoming goods inspection, per QMS requirements.
  • Dimensional reporting both internally and to customer requirements.
  • Quality Control of the production process
  • Inspection and shipping approval of products as required
  • Part of team carrying out audits of new and existing suppliers
  • Initial investigation and processing of ECR / ECO’s

Administration functions:

  • PPAP Submissions
  • Full understanding of APQP activities and PPAP submissions.
  • Producing SPC data and implementing with suppliers where necessary.
  • Work in a team to produce Process flow, FMEA’s, work instructions & Control Plans.
  • Prepare product specific documentation to capture information demanded by the control plan.
  • Initiating gauge R&R tests.
  • Sign off of certificate of conformance, ensuring that the appropriate level of inspection has been carried out per QMS and customer order.
  • Work with MPI to support Engineers in the writing of documentation for customer support.
  • Responsibility for Quality, H&S and Environmental systems

Non-conformances:

  • Gather initial documentation following an internal non-conformance or customer complaint. Liaising with appropriate purchasing or production staff.
  • Involvement in 8D process for customer complaints, supplier non-conformances and internal non-conformances.
  • Support commercial staff in customer visits to resolve Quality Issues.
  • Raise Internal Quality Alerts and issue to the relevant internal department.
  • Concessions process.
  • Raising supplier quality concern reports / CAR’s.
  • Liaising with suppliers on quality issues.
  • Applying problem solving techniques (8D, fishbone diagrams, etc.)

New Product Introduction:

  • Involvement in process to ensure appropriate inspection functions can be carried out.
  • Interpreting customer product quality requirements and communicating internally using structured processes.

Key Skills

  • Hands-on experience in a production test and assembly environment of medium volume (10-100 per batch) electronic assemblies.
  • Team Lead for applying problem finding methods: DMAIC, 8D, etc. Implementing counter measures to problems found.
  • Drive, energy and a keen desire to propose and implement manufacturing improvements.
  • Competence with spreadsheets and statistical analysis of yields and failure mechanisms.
  • An affinity with electromechanical assemblies and the ability to conceptualise and design test and assembly fixtures and guides.
  • The ability to design and run product reliability experiments.
  • Have good interpersonal skills for cohesive relationships with Production staff, R&D and suppliers.
  • Knowledge of how electronic components behave in analogue/digital circuits would be highly beneficial.
  • Concern for order and quality.
  • Knowledge of an MRP system would be advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Knowledge of the programming language Python would be advantageous but not mandatory.
